Marc introduced Chris Cosentini and motioned for a vote to approve her to replace himself as Secretary of CGLA, motion seconded and approved.
Marc summarized the September 19 th meeting points of discussion:
- field/game consolidation to improve availability of officials
- games on both Saturday and Sunday to give high school players an opportunity to officiate
- field monitors on the sidelines
- continue to use MyLacrosseLeague for scheduling
Marc led discussion on the cost/benefit of having side line observers as CGLA representatives at games. Due to many reports of inappropriate behavior by parents, players and coaches there is a need for third party observation of team behavior during games. The cost of having paid adult side line observes at each game would increase team registration costs by $50.
The group decided to the best course of action for the coming years is to put effort and training into the US Lacrosse required side line managers before going further with paid sideline observers.
In the sideline manager program each team is required to assign an adult to manage behavior on the side lines. It was agreed that the following items were needed to better implement the side line manager program:
- Delegates need to get the information to coaches about the side line manager requirement
- CGLA needs to define expectations for the side line managers
- Train side line managers to meet expectations
- Develop a reporting process to gather data from the side line managers
- Have side line managers sign in with the coaches at the start of the game
- All clubs must inform their coaches of the CGLA requirement that all coaches have US Lacrosse level 1 coaches training (either on-line or in clinic)
- CGLA board members will conduct random spot checks at games through out the season
Sam Barton requested to enter one of the former Blue Sky girl's teams in CGLA. There was discussion on the pros and cons of this and no vote was taken or decision made.
VP report - Fund raising for 2007 made a net revenue of $6500 from merchandise sales at the festival and fall ball.
Treasurers Report - estimated costs for each club team is $500 per team ($415 for 4 th grade teams). 63 teams last year, used that estimate to prepare the 2008 budget.
Kim Wallace - Officials training check the website for dates and places for clinics. Need new adult officials and junior officials.
ED Report - scrimmage days in early March to be used as training for officials. Pick a field for 3/15/08 with 3/16/08 for the snow day.
