Marc Luckett (CGLA President) discussed his review of the executive director's performance and made a recommendation that the executive director be continued at the same compensation last year.
Motion to compensate the executive director at last years level passed.
Discussion of CGLA by-laws: Last changed in 2005, need to remove outdated by-laws and correct errors and bring them into conformance with Board decisions since 2005. In general: it was agreed to amend the by-laws to reflect the changes that had been voted on in past board meetings and for all members to familiarize themselves with the by-laws to enable them to make decisions at the next board meeting. Also the recommendation was to have an attorney review the by-laws to ensure they conform with the non-profit 501(c)3 rules.
By-laws are posted on CGLax.com
Areas of future discussion and possible revision of by-laws include: eligibility, competitive and non-competitive levels of play and US Lacrosse rules versus CGLA rules.
Discussion ensued on teaching checking and keeping Gold and Silver levels of play within the grade structure.
Officials fees were brought up, would there be changes and if that would impact CGLA fees. Many clubs have established their budgets for this year and requested they be
notified of future fee modifications earlier in the year so they may adjust their registration fees accordingly.
Executive Directors Report:
Team Colorado and Team Select - propose to merge teams and for the teams to have one U-13 and one U-15 team to attend the US Lacrosse festival and one U-15 team to attend a more competitive event.
PCA Clinic - looking for grant funding from US Lacrosse to support a PCA clinic in Denver.
US Lacrosse is recommending background checks, some of our clubs conduct them, recommendation that CGLA add mandatory background checks of all coaches and board members to the by-laws.
Dicks Sporting Goods - communicated discontent with the play day and that for teams to travel to their site we need more than one game. Still working with DSG to see if this is a possibility. If not CGLA will not agree to hold games at DSG.
