A few reminders were issued.

  • Read the by-laws (please note amendments) and review New 2005 Rules on website (coloradolacrosse.org which links to website colax.org).
  • Officials can now receive feedback: you may email Robin Patterson ( rdkpatter@aol.com ) (please cc: Sarah Grey sarahgrey1@aol.com & Kate Dresher kdresher@msn.com ) to express both positive or negative interactions with officials.
  • Laminated cards for officials for quick reference during a game are being distributed to officials (will also be distributed at coaches meeting 2/27/05).
  • A wonderful offering for $25 is to have an official come address your team, club, parent group regarding rules. Please call Hillary Patterson to schedule (303-521-8434).
  • There is a new application process for new teams that has been implemented this year. It allows a mechanism for tracking clubs and legitimizing the intent of each club.

Lisa Ellsworth, youth lacrosse official, provided a wonderful demonstration of rules and regulations when officiating. Several important points in her presentation included:

  • If an official shows for a game that was cancelled, but the home team neglected to notify them of the cancellation, the official must be paid.
  • Remember that as coaches you are role models. If a coach receives a yellow card, it indicates a change of possession; if a red card is issued, the individual in question is asked to leave the premise.
  • Parents are asked to observe the game from the other side of the field from the players. They are to be 5 yards back from the proposed boundary line.
  • Coaches must verify equipment for officials at each game, to include NOCSAE sticker on helmet.

The Treasurer's report was reviewed. Most notably, club dues are staying the same for the year ($415).

CiCi Peterson, Vice-President, announced that merchandise will be available at the Denver All-City Stadium Clinic. CiCi also reviewed some of the more important New Rules in 2005, including mandatory eye protection (astm certified). The new rules are posted on the website.
